“Men go back to the mountains, as they go back to sailing ships at sea, because in the mountains and on the sea they must face up.” — Henry David Thoreau

…this quote has always made me think about why I love going out in the wilderness of the sea or mountains. It’s where I find solitude, peace, respite and meaning. It’s also where I find the courage to make myself a stronger person.

I also find it to be an appropriate analogy for life. Every obstacle we face during life could be likened to summiting a peak or sailing across the sea… or insert whatever adventurous undertaking makes your heart thump louder.

Thus, this is the place I keep my stories of mountains and sea.
