Singlehanded Spinnaker Practice

Flying a Spinnaker Singlehanded on a Carter 3/4 Ton IOR 33′ Sloop. I use a Raymarine ST2000 Tiller Autohelm to steer when I’m up on the foredeck. I don’t know of any other method to sail downwind reliably other than an Autopilot/helm.

During the day, the winds did pick up while I had the chute up and was in the middle of a gybe. The Autohelm was not able to catch every wind shift and I rounded up a few times… so, they’re not perfect.

disclaimer: I’m not a pro, I don’t have sailing with my chute solo down to perfection, I wasn’t trying for speed, just practicing how to do it. Hopefully this video helps other singlehanded or shorthanded sailors realize you can fly a chute solo.
